Configuration, Logs, and Permissions

Troubleshoot faster by knowing where settings live, how to export logs, and which permissions matter.

This page is your support toolbox when behavior is inconsistent.

Configuration Files

Settings -> Configuration Files (Expert Mode)

  • Open Config Folder opens Voiscribd's local Application Support directory
  • this folder contains Spark, Chain, and related state files

Use this when support asks for configuration state or when you need to verify local files.

Export Logs

Export Logs generates a diagnostics file for support.

It includes runtime and configuration snapshots useful for debugging.

Local Model Retention

Settings -> Local Model Retention (Expert Mode)

Keep local model loaded options:

  • Off
  • 30 seconds
  • 1 minute
  • 3 minutes
  • 5 minutes
  • 10 minutes
  • 30 minutes
  • 1 hour

Higher values reduce reload latency but increase memory usage.

Use shorter retention on low-memory systems and longer retention if you repeatedly transcribe in short bursts.

System Permissions

Settings -> System Permissions

Voiscribd tracks and helps configure:

  • Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Microphone Access
  • Accessibility Access
  • Screen Recording Access

Permission cards include current status and direct action buttons.

Quick Permission Mapping

  • Microphone Access: required for recording
  • Accessibility Access: required for direct insertion in many apps
  • Screen Recording Access: required for screen-context features and some system-audio flows
  • Keyboard Shortcuts: required for global hotkeys

Fast Troubleshooting Order

  1. reproduce issue once
  2. verify all four permissions
  3. export logs immediately
  4. open config folder and capture current state
  5. send logs + context together

Note

[Screencast Placeholder] Record a support troubleshooting flow: open config folder, export logs, verify all 4 permissions, and explain when each is required.
